The Exit Debate

After a week that has seen death treats towards 3 members of the Celtic Team (Paddy McCourt being the 3rd member to have bullets sent to him in the post), the team bus being bottled and a window broken (after the game with Berwick rankers), and Neil Lennon being handed an un proportional and grossly unfair 6 match ban for a first offence – the debate has started amongst Celtic fans to whether our fans and team will ever be treated fairly by the Scottish Football Authorities.

The general consensus is that Celtic has never been and will never be treated in the same way as other teams and if this is the case – should Celtic now start the exit debate within the club and its support.

The question of Celtic leaving the SPHell has been simmering away in one form or another and came to the foreground last season when a EPL chairman tabled the motion to see Celtic and rankers  be brought from the SPHell to the Premiership – however it was over turned, and the two Glasgow clubs remained  where they were  (But in reality – how desperate would rankers be to move to another league where they wont receive the preferential treatment that a lot of football fans feel the do in Scotland).

Another question was thrown out to people online a few moths ago from an online fanzine: Could Celtic think about buying out a struggling ing-lish club and get the Glasgow giants into the ing-lish leagues that way.  This would seem a viable option but I’m sure it is a legal minefield!

Whether it be starting from scratch, joining the Championship or heading straight into the EPL, a lot of Celtic fans would be happy to see the club make the move – if only to guarantee that Celtic players, fans and team are judged on a level playing field with the other clubs in the same league and NOT treated as a whipping bhoys for bigots and dinosaurs.

This bhoy is unsure of what the future will hold, but I know that after this week, the exit debate has well and truly started amongst the faithful.
